Support Services for TXST Students and Employees Impacted by Flooding
Texas State University is here for students and employees impacted by the recent Kerrville-area flooding. Below you'll find resources for mental health, financial assistance, academic support, and ways to help others in need.
- Student mental health and well-being services are available through our Division of Student Success, including Timely Care on-demand 24/7 support, the Counseling Center, and the Dean of Students office.
- Students unable to attend classes or who are experiencing a disruption in coursework can email their faculty members directly, utilize the online form, or contact the Dean of Students Office (512-245-2124 / dosoffice@txstate.edu) for support navigating a request for absence from classes.
- Students who are experiencing financial issues and would benefit from basic needs assistance due to the recent flooding can contact the Dean of Students office to inquire about available emergency funding.
- TXST employees have free and confidential access to the Bobcat Balance Employee Assistance Program, which includes counseling, financial resources, legal services and other support.
- Employees should work directly with their supervisors if they need to be absent from work due to flood-related issues.
- Employees who are experiencing a financial hardship resulting from the floods may submit an application for the Employee Emergency Assistance Loan Program which is being relaunched this week.
Here are ways to help fellow Texans and Bobcats across the region impacted by recent flooding:
- Contribute to our student and staff emergency funds. Make a donation to the “Student Emergency Grants Fund” and/or “Employee Emergency Assistance Fund” through Texas State’s online giving form to help students and employees impacted by the recent weather events.
- Donate to or volunteer with regional support services (Please note: The Salvation Army in Kerrville says they are currently at capacity with donations of supplies and clothing. They are requesting monetary donations only at this time. Also, do not self-deploy to volunteer. All volunteer efforts and donation coordination are being directed through the Salvation Army Social Services Office. If you are interested in volunteering, please call the VOAD Hotline at 830-465-4797 or go to kerrvillekroc.org.)
