Due to hazardous weather conditions issued by the National Weather Service affecting the San Marcos and Round Rock areas, the following schedule will be in effect for the San Marcos Campus:
Dining
- Commons & Harris Dining Halls: Normal hours; close at 8 p.m. Saturday, open at 10 a.m. Sunday
- Jones Dining Hall: Close at 8 p.m. Saturday; closed Sunday
Facilities
- LBJ Student Center: Close at 6 p.m. Saturday; closed Sunday
- Campus Recreation Center: Close at 6 p.m. Saturday; closed Sunday
- Alkek Library: Close at 6 p.m. Saturday; closed Sunday
Texas State University will continue to monitor weather conditions. Decisions regarding campus operations for Monday, Jan. 26 will be announced by Sunday at 6 p.m. Updates will be shared through official university channels.

Texas State University is actively monitoring weather forecasts to ensure we are prepared for potential winter weather. With cold temperatures and the possibility of freezing rain in the forecast this weekend, your safety is our priority. Based on the current forecast, the University anticipates being open on Monday, January 26, 2026, so please plan accordingly and consider any weekend travel plans carefully. Should plans change, the resources and tips below will help you stay informed, stay safe, and start the semester on the right foot.
Stay Informed
- Monitor Alerts: TXST will communicate updates about university operations, such as delayed starts or closures, via TXSTATE Alert texts and emails. Be sure your contact information is up to date in SAP to receive these notifications.
- Check Online Resources: Visit Safety & Emergency Communications for the latest updates and winter weather safety tips.
- Follow Social Media: Ongoing updates will be shared on TXST’s official social media platforms.
- Class Closures: If the university closes, all classes, including online, and Bobcat Shuttle Services are typically canceled. While no closures are anticipated at this time, we will communicate any changes promptly.
Prioritize Safety
- Driving and Walking: If you feel unsafe driving or walking to campus when the university is open, please communicate directly with your supervisor or faculty member to discuss alternatives.
- Avoid Slippery Areas: Stay off untreated surfaces and wear appropriate footwear for icy conditions.
