Texas State University Emergency Management is closely monitoring weather forecasts ahead of a front expected to bring rainfall to Central Texas from Thursday, October 1, through Saturday, October 3.

At this time, Texas State University plans to maintain normal academic and administrative operations. Based on current forecasts from the National Weather Service, we do not anticipate class cancellations or operational disruptions.

While we expect university activities to continue as scheduled, your personal safety is our top priority. Because weather conditions and road conditions can vary significantly across Central Texas, please keep the following guidance in mind over the coming days:

Commute & Safety Guidance:

  • Plan Ahead: Please allow extra travel time for your commute to and from campus.
  • Exercise Caution: Never attempt to drive through flooded roadways or around barricades. Turn Around, Don't Drown.
  • Individual Discretion: We support your personal judgment regarding travel safety. If hazardous local weather or flooded roadways prevent you from safely reaching campus:
    • Students: Contact your professors as early as possible to discuss your situation.
    • Employees: Contact your supervisor directly regarding your individual travel circumstances.

Our Emergency Management team will monitor conditions throughout the weather event and provide further updates if necessary. For official updates, please monitor university communication channels and local weather advisories.

Stay safe and weather-aware, Bobcats!
